Career counselling in Zurich for meaningful professional change
Explore your values, motivation and next steps with psychological support.
When your work no longer feels aligned
Almost everyone goes through periods when their working life suddenly feels overwhelming. Decisions are left undone. Thoughts go round and round in your head. The situation seems unclear.
Stress, inner restlessness or doubts often creep up on you. At first, they’re sporadic. Then they become more and more frequent. You carry on as normal, but something just doesn’t feel right anymore.
You’re not alone in this. In Switzerland, around one in seven people in employment changed jobs in 2023. That’s roughly 14.7% of the workforce. A third of these changes involved a genuine career change.
Career change, reorientation and personal development are completely normal in today’s world of work. More than one in two people regularly think about their future career path after completing their education.
Almost everyone feels at some point that the next step is necessary. Not simply out of dissatisfaction. But because requirements, values or life circumstances are changing.

How psychological career counselling works
As a psychological career counsellor with many years’ experience, I go beyond traditional career guidance. My services are aimed at adults who are looking for more than just information on further training, job applications or vacancies.
The key to success lies in connecting two levels:
Your personality, values and needs
The reality of working life, career paths and the job market
You’ll examine your own decision-making processes. Why obstacles arise. And what it takes to regain clarity and the ability to take action on your professional journey.
Career planning isn’t about devising a perfect plan. I won’t be giving you any ready-made solutions. Together, we’ll establish a sense of direction and bring your strengths, interests and goals into focus. This will provide a basis for decision-making that suits your life and your career.
During the consultation, we systematically identify your competencies:
professional skills
personal resources
social skills
experiences from your professional and private life
These elements form the basis of any career planning.

Who is career counselling suitable for?
Psychological career guidance is aimed at people who want to take control of their career path. This is particularly relevant to you if:
you are going through a phase of reorientation or change
you have doubts about your career choice
you are planning to return to work
internal pressure, stress or doubts are affecting your day-to-day life
you hold a leadership role or are self-employed

Topics we may explore in career counselling
Taking stock and finding your bearings: Where are you today? What drives you and what are you passionate about? What is weighing you down? And what is missing?
Strengths, interests and inclinations: Many skills remain hidden in everyday life. Together, we’ll bring them to the fore and assess the opportunities they present.
Prospects and opportunities: It’s not just about changing jobs. It’s about development, shaping your own path and realistic prospects in your professional life.
Dealing with stress and internal pressure: Professional demands often have a greater impact than they appear to have on the surface. Through counselling, these connections become clear.

How this differs from traditional career advice
Academic guidance, career guidance or services provided by information centres, career centres or BIZs offer important guidance, particularly for young people or when it comes to formal questions about choosing a course of study.
Psychological career counselling takes a different approach. It is aimed at adults facing complex issues. The focus is on internal processes, not just external options. The counselling is personalised and tailored to the specific issue at hand.
Psychological depth meets professional reality
Psychological career counselling does not mean withdrawing from the world of work. On the contrary, it combines inner clarity with professional practice.
Further training, industry and career opportunities are assessed realistically. Decisions are not made under pressure, but based on understanding. This fosters stability and decision-making ability.
How we work
My approach is based on methods from psychology and coaching, and combines these with professional practice.
To this end, I use the following methods:
structured reflective discussions
targeted questionnaires to assess current circumstances
Exercises to clarify values and interests
Analysis of decision-making processes
Development of concrete strategies for implementation
The methods are always merely a means to an end. The dialogue is what matters most.

How the counselling process works
The counselling process is clearly structured and transparent. It adapts to your situation whilst still following a clear line of reasoning. You remain in control at all times. As a counsellor, I provide you with support and guidance, not dependency.
Initial consultation: During the initial consultation, we will clarify your current situation, your concerns, questions and goals.
In-depth exploration: Examining your personality, expectations, strengths and inner patterns.
Contextualisation: Linking inner insights with professional reality.
Planning: Developing criteria and the next steps.
Further development: Support during change and implementation.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many sessions are recommended?
That depends on your situation. The counselling is tailored to your needs, not based on a rigid programme.
Is this coaching or counselling?
My approach combines elements of counselling and coaching, with a clear psychological focus.
Do I need to have a goal already?
No, you don’t. Goals in career planning often only emerge during the process.
